I apologize for such a long hibernation on my blog. We have been moving house and I have been fully preoccupied with work and the move. But let’s get back on topic. We spent six nights in NYC around Easter. Me and hubby have been to the Big Apple several times but this time we travelled with a couple of friends who had never been to New York before. As we were travelling with “an entourage” we opted for Airbnb accommodation. We chose a place in Brooklyn with two bedrooms. Staying in Brooklyn also offered something new for me and hubby as we have always stayed in Manhattan.
We flew out via Frankfurt on March 28th and arrived at JFK in the evening of the 28th. We had opted for pre-booked transportation as a taxi could have been tricky with four adults and as many suitcases. Once we arrived at the apartment, which was the street-level floor of a nice brownstone we got settled and hit the corner market to stock up on some basics. We decided to stay in and go to bed early as we had rented a car for the next day in order to head to Woodbury Common Premium Outlets for some heavy shopping.
On Thursday morning we headed to the nearest Subway station, bought us seven day Metrocards and took the subway to the car rental place. Before getting the car we had a nice breakfast at the New Apollo Diner. After breakfast we got the car and headed to Woodbury. When we got back “home” we started looking for a place for dinner and chose the Mexican place Chavela’s on Franklin Avenue in Brooklyn. We were lucky enough to get a table without a reservation and enjoyed superb Mexican food with tasty margaritas. I had fish and shrimp tacos and hubby Camarones a la Mexicana or shrimp simmered with tomatoes, jalapeños and onions, served with rice. After dinner we took an Über home.

On Friday, we headed to Manhattan and had breakfast at the legendary Tic Toc Diner. We’ve visited the diner every time we’ve been in NYC but it had lost some of its charm. After breakfast we took the subway to ground zero. We visited St. Paul's Chapel or the "The Little Chapel That Stood" and then walked to South Street Seaport. We took a pit stop at Clinton Hall Seaport and then we walked to the subway and went to Times Square. After checking out the square it was time for a “small” bite at Heartland Brewery. Now it was time to travel back to Brooklyn and Barclays center to attend a hockey game. The game did not really meet our expectations but at least we can say we’ve seen an NHL game.
